FLIR DEALER EVENT - DUBAI

Last year, SMD further enhanced our position as a leading African Marine Electronics by being awarded the FLIR agency for South Africa & Namibia. We further enhanced this relationship by attending the FLIR Sales Conference in Dubai on the 11 May. At the event, FLIR announced the official launch of the new M400 Series Thermal Imaging Camera as the replacement of the successful Voyager Series Camera. We had the new M400 camera, along with others, on demonstration for us to get to know and operate at night in the waters of the Dubai Creek.

SMD looks forward to getting involved in the many exciting projects in the marine leisure, commercial, oil & gas and military applications with FLIR in the future.

WESGRO Trade Delegation to ANGOLA

SMD formed part of a trade delegation led by the Western Cape Premier Helen Zille to visit Luanda, Angola at the end of April 2015. The Western Cape Government’s trade mission enabled us to network and meet the various ministers and the governor of Luanda looking to increase bi-lateral relations with South Africa and specifically the Western Cape. We also had the opportunity to meet with and discuss various challenges and difficulties we face with the South African Consulate in Angola as well as the Angolan regulatory administrators. In addition to the various government and administrator meetings, we also had the opportunity to network and meet with many local Angolan companies looking to increase business between the two economies.
